Nothing can prevent the government from intercepting your internet communications. Your best bet is to move to Canada and live "off the grid" if you are worried about the government checking on your internet activity. A proxy server is useless for this purpose. You can improve the privacy of your email by using PGP or another similar encryption, but if the Feds really want to, they can crack even the best encryption with brute force.Of course, it is much easier to just pick you up as an "unlawful enemy combatant" and throw you in prison than to spend the resources to intercept your communications.
