Why do all these kids "need" to access MySpace at school via proxy?
Look, kiddies. Even if you *do* find a proxy, there are IT people at your school who can and will track everything that you do on the computer. They see that you found a proxy, and they will block it and you might get in trouble (like suspended). The bigger problem is, why are you so desperate to get onto MySpace? What do you do there, sit around and wait for someone to message you all day? Most likely a spamming fake profile that you click on and it takes you to a fake login page so you enter your password and now your profile is spamming other people and leaving them comments with advertisements in them? You're at SCHOOL. If you focus more on MySpace than school, you will grow up to work in fast food. Trust me, studying will pay off, and you can access MySpace at home anyway.FYI: Proxies do not bypass the fact that IT staff at school can STILL see that you're going to them. They bypass something like WebSense, but it's really easy for someone to login as an Admin and see every single click that you've made and site you've been to. Or maybe you could say that proxies "bypass the firewall" to the ten people from my work who were fired because they used proxies to access gambling sites. IT PEOPLE CAN STILL SEE EVERYTHING THAT YOU DO.Just wait a few hours until you get home. It'll be okay, you'll still be alive.

I think that MySpace is one of those whirlwind fads that will die out soon enough. Meanwhile, it has lead to many kids being victimized I'm sure, sadly. Kids think that nothing could happen to them and don't worry about putting out all their personal info online. Nor are they worrying that they could get caught at school going there. Good question and advice you gave!

It never occured to me until I was out of school (post College grad) why school admins do block things. When you're that age, you don't realize how much it really hinders your learning. When I was their age, they were blocking other things though, mtv.com, stuff like that of course we didn't get computers in our schools until high school.

As an IT professional for 11 years, you're right on both points...we can track through proxy and when in school you should definately focus on that since and not MySpace since MySpace won't ensure you a bright future.Kudos for a good question and points.

how true how true. proxys are lame. They don't let you do anything excpet look at your profile. You can't comment people or anything. People are immature. That's why they are failing class. Kiddies in my class are making 30s in the easiest class... and they are juniors.

first off in a proxy it bypasses the firewall and administrators can't whats going on the reason why people want to go on myspace is because its blocked the restriction is why people want to go on myspace at school the restriction makes them want it more and more
