Firstly, proxies do not get "installed" onto your computer.A proxy is a intermediate server that forwards information between to points. Here's an analogy. Your son has two friends. One of them is an honor student whom you trust, and the other is a drug addict. Suppose you tell your son that you don't want him talking to the drug addict friend; your son then goes to his honor student friend and has him relay back and forth between them.A proxy server works the same way. All a user has to do is go to a proxy web site (which isn't blocked) and enter whatever web address they want into it, and the proxy returns the web page they desire. Technically, since the proxy is fetching the content and not the user directly, web filters are rendered helpless. All I can suggest is to check your Internet history and find the exact web address of this proxy web site and block it manually with whatever means are at your disposal.

In computer networks, a proxy server is a server (a computer system or an application program) which services the requests of its clients by making requests to other servers. A client connects to the proxy server, requesting a file, connection, web page, or other resource available from a different server. A proxy server provides the resource by connecting to the specified server, with some exceptions: A proxy server may alter the client's request or the server's response. A proxy server may service the request without contacting the specified server.(A proxy server that passes all requests and replies unmodified is not called a proxy server. It is a gateway.)A proxy server can be placed in the user's local computer, or at specific key points between the user and the destination servers or the Internet.check you firewall setting and see what your allowing, you may have to research the settings to get it right.i had mine set wrong and a trojan sneeked in..........

A proxy server is a server set up to create an indirect route to a web site. It is not on your PC it is externalThere are genuine reasons for proxiesThe best way to find out is to get your router to keep a record of all sites visited. If a proxy is being used it will appear regularly in your list. You can then visit the address and check it out.
