Setting up my own proxy server?

I have a friend who at work has many sites blocked. What I want to do is take the domain I own (but don't use), and use my computer that I use infrequently, and set it up so she can go to my domain, and use that computer as a proxy server. I've been looking online for directions to accomplish this, but haven't had much success.

In terms of technical knowledge, I'm pretty limited, so the more detailed the directions, the better. Also, the computer I'm going to use is currently running XP, but I bought a Windows 7 license I'm probably going to install on it. So directions for either would be ideal (I'd put off installing Windows 7 if it's much easier to set up on that).
