Send international massages indirectly? (by proxy?)?

The direct international massages from cell phone to cell phone are too expensive.

I see the skype, which you call a server and server redirects your call to a person.

Is there any service I can send a massage to a server and server sends my massage to the person I defined, such a "messaging proxy" service?

Thanks a lot! Just a crazy idea
I'm confused, can you explain it more detailed? My phone doesn't have internet tho;.
