I need A LOT of help with the proxy settings on my computer! Computer...
...geeks or just smart people please help! Okay, so the whole reason I am worried abou this is because I want to live video chat with a web cam with other people. I want to use the program Skype, but there is a problem with it that also showed up when I tried Yahoo! Messanger, so I'm pretty sure the problem is not Skype or Yahoo. It's the proxy settings on my computer.Neither Skype nor Yahoo! Messanger will let me connect due to my proxy settings, and I am wondering if there are certain proxy settings I need to have. Right now under Tools-Internet Options-Connections-LAN, all I have is Automatically Detect Settings. I tried checking "Use a proxy served with your LAN" and writing "80" and "443" where it asks for the ports, but that didn't work. I also tried doing this under the "settings" menu in Connections. Is there like set proxy settings that will work ? I'm just not all too sure about this proxy stuff, and if anyone has had similar problems that they know how to solve, please let me know!!!I don't have comcast... and I don't know what P2P is!

Well if it's you proxy settings, maybe you shouldn't have them on.For Skype and YIM, you might have to open a few ports for them. You can find out which ports to open by googling it.This is where you can allow/add ports.Start>Control Panel>Network and Internet Connections> Windows Firewall> Exceptions. Also make sure, your date and time settings are correct because some MSN, and a few other messenger will not let you on unless your Date Settings are correct.

Get yourself a proxy server (which you can it at http://www.proxywhereabouts.com/proxy_list.phpThen, put the proxy in your LAN setting. DO NOT detect automatically.I assume you are using YM behind firewall which did not allow you to use it.
