To use privoxy with any browser, you must first configure the browser to use the proxy

ort required by it. In Opera click on Tools->Preferences (hit ctrl+F12 or Alt+p) > Advanced > Network. Now on the right pane, click the 'proxy servers' button. Over here check the HTTP and HTTPS and enter the proxy address in the field. And in the port field enter the port. To use privoxy enter 127.0.0.1 in the field against HTTP and HTTPS. In the port field enter 8118. The reason you cannot check FTP , Gopher and WAIS is because privoxy doesn't support it. Finally click ok after you've entered the proxy

ortClick ok again to close the preferences box. After this is done, we have to clear the cache and cookies, so that you can now open/refresh the pages again, this time with privoxy. To clear cache in Opera..click Tools-> delete private data -> details. now here select to delete the cache and cookies and hit delete. Another way to delete cache is by going to Tools > Preferences > Advanced > history > click 'empty now' against disk cache. If you aren't using privoxy and are using some other anonymous or high anonymous proxy , then similarily enter their proxy address and port like i showed you, then you can also check FTP and gopher and put in the proxy and port there , provided they support it.Also after clicking on proxy button , you can check 'do not use proxy on the address below' and then enter the domain name which you don't want to be included as being surfed thru' the proxy. Before doing this configuration, go to sites like
http://whatismyip.com and
http://theproxyconnection.com/ and look at what ip address they tell you. After doing the configuration check again and test whether the proxy

ort worked fine or not. If the configuration worked, the sites should show you a different ip address this time. whatismyip.com will tell you the ip address , and theproxyconnection will tell you this info along with your ISP name possibly. It should be under ' People are currently seeing you on the Internet as :'For more info on privoxy, visit
http://www.privoxy.org/Another way to bypass filters is by using anonymous web based proxy servers, one of the good ones is
http://iphide.com However this won't support SSLWhile on iphide.com, browse the web by typing webaddresses in the iphide address bar.
