how can i bypass my school's "smartfilter bess edition" filter?

my school has a filter that blocks the majority of content on the internet. this is extremelly troublesome when i am given time in class, like now, to work on projects/reports and cannot access many sites with information relevant to my studies. i've yet to find a proxy site that is not blocked, but if you know of any or have any suggestions on how to bypass the filter, tell me :]

A way to view some sites through firewalls, depending on how good it is, is to google what you're looking for, then instead of clicking on the link to the site directly, select "cached" at the bottom of the description.Since the cached version is hosted on google, you'll be able to see whatever google has captured, which is often readable.Also, I'd assume they haven't blocked wikipedia, which is a pretty good starting point for most research projects (though check with your teacher if it's a valid source!)
