Computer problem !! Need ...hmm i dunno maybe proxy or something ?? need advice?

here's the deal !! I am a first yr student at uni and live at the university residence hall. The residence hall provides wireless internet , which is university's wireless and hence:1.its not too fast2.it doesnt allow doing certain stuff ie. playing online games such as WOWI really wanna play WOW and really cant be bothered to pay 30 pounds a month to get mobile broadband.I need something (proxy I assume?? ) which allows me to play online games and do other stuff !! And I need a FAST one , cuz the uni internet is slow enough already , I dont want anything to slow it down more !! The most practical answer which will actually work will be chosen as the best answer

I have this same issue, though for Eve-online rather then WOW.Anyway, I use a combination of Your-freedom and SocksCap.SocksCap forwards the data from, Eve (in my case), to Your-freedom, that sends the data to a Server (often in Germany) using HTTP port 80. Then from that server the data is passed to the Eve server.Therefore, bypassing the Uni's firewall port blocking.If you need an extensive how-to read up on this Wiki guide: http://www.eve-wiki.net/index.php?ti...TP_Tunnelling, the only difference you would need is to select the WOW main exe, rather then the Eve online one.Be aware, if the Uni finds out you are tunnelling around their firewall, chances are they will take away your internet access completely. Therefore, don't go around telling everyone.

It's not worth trying to bypass the security of the university - if you get caught you may just get expelled and that is not worth playing games...
